News Release
EAROPH Australia ready for Pacific Urban Forum
29 June 2019
Nadi, Fiji – Representatives of EAROPH Australia will play a key role in the upcoming Pacific Urban Forum 5 (PUF5). PUF5 will be held in Nadi, Fiji, from 1 to 3 July 2019.
Following the adoption of the New Urban Agenda and recognition of the many opportunities and challenges for the Pacific, PUF5 will provide an inclusive multi-urban stakeholder platform for review of progress towards implementing the Pacific New Urban Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals, and for exchange, dialogue, and partnerships for further action planning.
In attendance for EAROPH Australia will be President Dr Jane Stanley, Vice-President Clinton Moore, and EAROPH International President Mia Davison.
EAROPH Australia will demonstrate the role it can play in regional leadership by leading three side events at PUF5 on: new waste and energy solutions for the Pacific, reviving the Pacific Island Planners Association, and the Pacific City Partnerships Challenge. Dr Jane Stanley will also lead the constituency meeting on women and youth.
Mia Davison expressed her delight at the opportunities presented to the Pacific by PUF5, and the opportunities for EAROPH and other partners to work closer together.
“These are milestone UN events that bring practitioners and civil society together, enabling us to get on with the job of ensuring flourishing, sustainable human settlements across the Asia-Pacific today and for the long-term."
