Yidinji Declaration 1st anniversary Workshop on Climate Justice - June 21, 2024 in Cairns - JOIN US
EAROPH Australia will convene the second Yidinji Workshop as a one day event on Friday June 21 at the Cairns James Cook University Australia campus. We hope that you will be able to join us in this event.
The theme of the workshop will be “Practical pathways to climate justice for First Nations Australians and Pacific Islanders”. We intend to build on last years' Yidinji Declaration to break new ground in pointing the way to a practical and just framework for addressing loss and damages in relation to climate impacts. This will become the Yidinji Proposition.
Working groups may be convened as a follow up to further develop the Yidinji Proposition in relation to the issues of interest to them so as to achieve practical localised proposals (this might be by way of zoom workshop sessions, with the first scheduled for Monday June 24).
It is intended that the Yidinji Proposition can then be promoted within the Asia Pacific Region before being taken to the World Urban Forum and COP 29 in November 2024.
To complement the in-person workshop there will be a follow-up webinar Monday 24 June, between 5:00PM and 7:00PM
1/ Please RSVP here for the 21/06 in-person workshop:
https://events.humanitix.com/practical-pathways-to-climate-justice-for-first-nations-australians-and-pacific-islanders to participate and contribute to the development of the Yidinji Proposition (note a modest registration fee of $25 will be charged to contribute to the catering).

'Diversifying Housing Solutions' webinar & EAROPH Australia AGM - May 16-17, 2024 - ACCOMPLISHED
We had another successful AGM in which we not only went through the formalities but refreshed our EAROPH Australia Executive Committee, special congratulations to Adithya R. Ranjith as our new Public Officer and Martin Butcher as our new Secretary. We also continued the work in creating a clearer and more focussed business plan for the year ahead, to maximise EAROPH's impact for sustainable human settlements in Australia and beyond.
The Diversifying Housing Solutions webinar was another success, with an incredibly diverse and engaging line-up of speakers on some of the crucial innovations to tackle our growing housing crisis.
It was a great opportunity for EAROPH Australia to partner with such a respected and dynamic organisation as Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sydney we couldn't have delivered such a successful webinar without you.
And the generous sharing of the time, expertise and insights from all the speakers (in no particular order): Federico J. Fernandez, Andy Fergus, Andres Lopez, Ian Ugarte, Marco Cubillos, Margie McKay, Annette Waters, Robert Dodd, Michael Wheatley and Graham Osborne.
And, finally, to all the participants that joined us and asked many incisive questions to the presenters

6th Pacific Urban Forum September 5-7, 2023 - Podcasts
The Pacific Urban Forum (PUF) seeks to accelerate the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals through multi-stakeholder partnerships. EAROPH was a partner in the 6th PUF, held in Suva, Fiji.
EAROPH Australia was there to share and show our continued commitment to not only the New Urban Agenda and the SDGs but also the Pacific Urban Partnership, as one the key partners. Our support becomes ever more pressing as we need to collectively address the disproportionate impacts that climate change is having on our Pacific neighbours.
It was also an opportunity to further the reach and partnerships for the The Yidinji Declaration in favour of an Indigenous Climate Justice Charter that started at the Climate Justice Workshop in Cairns, earlier in 2023.
EAROPH engaged arts Nexus Studio to capture some of the knowledge and insights of the participants at the PUF, a record of what was discussed directly from the people that lead the conversation. Enjoy these podcasts, we hope they give you a glimpse of what it was to be at the 6th PUF and inspire you to reflection and, hopefully, take positive action.
