EAROPH Australia building on regional leadership at Asia Pacific Urban Forum 7
16 October 2019
Penang, Malaysia – Representatives of EAROPH Australia are among the 7,000 delegates at Asia Pacific Urban Forum 7 (APUF7), being held in Penang, Malaysia, from 15 to 17 October 2019.
APUF7 is a platform for stakeholders from the Asia Pacific and beyond to discuss and analyse the status, challenges, and opportunities of the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. In attendance for EAROPH Australia are President Dr Jane Stanley, Vice-President Clinton Moore, and EAROPH International President Mia Davison.
EAROPH Australia is demonstrating its role in regional leadership by leading or co-leading Urban Innovation sessions at APUF7 on: innovative waste management solutions, outcomes of the Pacific Urban Forum 5, grassroots economic development and partnerships.
EAROPH Australia also attended and presented a country report at the 52nd EAROPH International Executive Committee meeting on 14 October, with Chapter colleagues from Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, and the Philippines.
Dr Jane Stanley is pleased that EAROPH Australia has successfully positioned itself as a key development partner in the Pacific Region, and a network contributor to initiatives across the Asia Pacific.
“This gives us a critical role to play in the fast approaching World Urban Forum 10, where agencies will need to advance beyond strategic thinking to real action.”
